The Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies seeks a 75% FTE Convention/Program Coordinator who will, under the direction of the Executive Director, manage and coordinate all aspects of the ASEEES Annual Convention and any other related events/programs, as assigned. Duties of the Coordinator include: coordinating the event site selection and contract negotiation; coordinating all event-related vendor selection and contract negotiation; managing exhibits, advertising, and sponsorship opportunities; managing all aspects of on-site event execution; working with the convention program committee members and chair to set up the convention program. The Coordinator is also responsible for: budget monitoring and reporting; drafting planning documents, reports and correspondence; convention website, event app, database maintenance; correspondence with event participants; event promotion via listserv and social media.  The Coordinator may be assigned other tasks, as needed. This position is currently funded at 75% effort, but there is a possibility of the position becoming 100% effort in the future.

Qualifications:

Required: Minimum B.A. and at least two years of relevant experience, preferably planning large meetings or conferences in a nonprofit or academic environment; proficiency with MS Office, including advanced proficiency in Word and Excel; near native fluency in English (both oral and written); outstanding organizational, communication, and customer service skills; ease with technology, including databases; demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret basic data and make independent decisions, judgments, and recommendations; demonstrated ability to negotiate and review contracts; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; ability to respond to changing environment, juggle multiple projects, and meet deadlines; ability to travel within and outside the United States; ability to maintain a positive and diplomatic composure, especially under pressure; ability to carry some supply boxes and stand for long periods of time during the event; ability to work in open, shared office space; open to flexible schedule. 

Desired: Experience with association management software, conference management software, CMS website maintenance, Adobe Acrobat; mobile event apps, and social media; interest in Slavic, East European and Eurasian studies; knowledge of an East European or Eurasian language.
