The October Revolution of 1917 changed the course of world history; it also turned Russia into a showcase filled with models. This extensive exhibition Revoliutsiia! Demonstratsiia! Soviet Art Put to the Test accordingly presents ten thematic display spaces from the early Soviet era, matching some 550 rare works of Soviet art with expert reconstructions of early Soviet display objects or display spaces. This is the largest presentation of Soviet art to take place in the United States in twenty-five years.
The Art Institute of Chicago invites ASEEES convention guests to visit Revoliutsiia! Demonstratsiia! Soviet Art Put to the Test any time during the run of the convention, Nov. 9–14, or to join in specially designed panels on Russian art and materiality presented in conjunction with the ASEEES convention.
Nov. 9–14, free admission for ASEEES convention guests (with convention badge). You must show the badge the ticket counter to receive a complimentary ticket. Guests are advised to enter through the Art Institute’s Modern Wing doors at 159 E. Monroe Street.

Transportation
The Art Institute of Chicago is situated south of Millennium Park only 0.9 miles south of the Chicago Marriott Hotel where the ASEEES conference will be held [Google Map]. Walking: Convention guests can easily find the museum by walking south on Michigan Avenue to Monroe Street, at which point you would turn left and cross the railroad tracks to enter the museum at the 159 E. Monroe Modern Wing Entrance. By train: the museum is two stops south of the hotel via the red line subway (Grand to Monroe). By bus: there are several busses that run north and south on Michigan avenue, some routes that you can take between the convention venue and the museum are: 3, 134, 147 and 151. Disembark at Madison/Monroe.
