Call for Nominations: ASEEES 2018 Prizes

To recognize outstanding scholarship and contribution to the field, the Association annually awards the several prizes and awards, presented at the Awards Presentation during the Annual Convention.  We are currently accepting nominations for the prizes listed below.  For more information and instructions on submitting a nomination, refer to that prize’s page.

 

Wayne S. Vucinich Book Prize (contribution to Russian, Eurasian, and East European studies in any discipline of the humanities or social sciences); Deadline: April 15

USC Book Prize in Literary and Cultural Studies (outstanding monograph published on Russia, Eastern Europe or Eurasia in the fields of literary and cultural studies); Deadline: April 15

Reginald Zelnik Book Prize in History (outstanding monograph published on Russia, Eastern Europe or Eurasia in the field of history); Deadline: April 15

Davis Center Book Prize in Political and Social Studies (outstanding monograph on Russia, Eurasia, or Eastern Europe in anthropology, political science, sociology, or geography); Deadline: April 15

Marshall Shulman Book Prize (outstanding monograph dealing with the international relations, foreign policy, or foreign-policy decision-making of any of the states of the former Soviet Union or Eastern Europe); Deadline: April 15

Barbara Jelavich Book Prize (distinguished monograph published on any aspect of Southeast European or Habsburg studies since 1600, or nineteenth- and twentieth-century Ottoman or Russian diplomatic history); Deadline: April 15

Ed A Hewett Book Prize (outstanding publication on the political economy of the centrally planned economies of the former Soviet Union and East Central Europe and their transitional successors); Deadline: April 15

Kulczycki Book Prize in Polish Studies (best book in any discipline, on any aspect of Polish affairs); Deadline: April 15

W. Bruce Lincoln Book Prize (for an author’s first published monograph or scholarly synthesis that is of exceptional merit and lasting significance for the understanding of Russia’s past); Deadline: April 15

Distinguished Contributions Award (honors members of the field who have made major contributions to the field through scholarship of the highest quality, mentoring, leadership, and/or service to the profession); Deadline: April 1

CLIR Distinguished Service Award (honors ASEEES member librarians, archivists, or curators whose contributions to the field have beene especially noteworthy or influential); Deadline: June 1

Graduate Student Essay Prize (outstanding essay by a graduate student in Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies); Deadline: June 1

Tucker/Cohen Dissertation Prize (outstanding English-language doctoral dissertation in Soviet or Post-Soviet politics & history in the tradition practiced by Robert C. Tucker and Stephen F. Cohen); Deadline: May 15
